[FRANCE VISA UPDATE] Resumption of France Visa Application Starting June 22, 2020

As the travel industry adjusts to the new normal, many countries slowly open their borders and release visa suspensions. The French Embassy in the Philippines will resume issuing certain types of visas that started last Monday, June 22, 2020.

The following categories will initially be the prioritized:
 - Studies / Contest (short and long stay)
- Professional reason (short and long stay)
- Family reason for establishment in France

The possible issuance of a visa does not guarantee the possibility of entering the territory, which remains determined by the measures applicable at the borders on the date of travel. Before applying for a visa, it is recommended to check whether you are authorized to enter France by consulting the following link.

It is up to each applicant to ensure that Philippine law authorizes him to travel outside the Philippines on the date chosen for departure. The consular services of the French Embassy in the Philippines decline all responsibility in the event that the holder of a visa that they have issued is prevented from leaving Philippine territory on the date envisaged due to measures decided by the Philippine authorities.

If you have a Schengen visa issued by the French Embassy in the Philippines and you were unable to use this visa due to the Covid-19 crisis, what should you do?
Having an unused visa in your passport does not prejudice the holder and does not affect the duration of the authorized stay during a subsequent travel plan. It is therefore not necessary to request the cancellation of this visa.

When the issuance of visas has resumed, you will be able to benefit from a simplified procedure and be satisfied with presenting the following supporting documents:
  • Request form indicating the new travel dates,
  • Photo ID
  • Travel document containing the visa issued but not used
  • Proof of cancellation of the previous trip
  • Proof of the planned new trip
  • Proof of updated accommodation (hotel reservation or certificate of Home)
  • Updated travel medical insurance.

You will not be asked for other supporting documents (including resources). The visa will generally be granted for the same number of entries and for the same duration as the previous visa. Free visa fees will be granted.

  2. Wonderful news! It is heartening to know that France Visa application services have resumed from June 2020. I couldn’t take my wife on a surprise French vacation last year due to the pandemic. However, times have changed and the situation looks pretty safe in France. That is why I will be applying for a France Schengen Visa so that I can enjoy some private time with my lovely wife in France.
