Taiwan Extends Visa-Free Entry Program for Filipinos until July 2022

Have you missed your travel to Taiwan because of the pandemic?

Well, you can still continue with your travel plans to Taiwan without the hassle of complying with the visa requirements as the VISA Free Entry Program for the citizens of the Philippines has been extended until July 31, 2022.

Just yesterday, July 20, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of  Taiwan has announced the extension of the visa-free program for Filipinos until July 31, 2022.

This is to further promote the New Southbound Policy (NSP) partner countries and Russia traveling to the Republic of China (Taiwan). Under the visa leniency, MOFA also allows visa-free entry to nationals from Thailand, Brunei, and Russia.

Taiwan has been extending visa privileges to Filipinos since November 2017.

However, in line with Taiwan's anti-pandemic policies, the foreign affairs ministry clarified that the extension of the visa-free treatment to the Philippines and three (3) other countries are separate. "The aforementioned adjustments to and extensions of visa measures for nationals from NSP partner countries and Russia are based on previously existing policies and do not indicate an opening-up of Taiwan to foreign tourists amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether restrictions on foreign nationals coming to Taiwan for tourism purposes will be relaxed depends on the CECC’s assessment of the worldwide development of the COVID-19 pandemic."

"MOFA will continue to review and fine-tune visa policy, seeking to strengthen bilateral exchanges and attract more visitors while still ensuring border and public security," the ministry said.
