Packing Tips and Techniques for Women

Traveling is a life goal but packing for our travel can be terrifying. Just thinking about what to bring is overwhelming and can definitely stress you out. Packing your stuff can be a nightmare especially when you have a lot in mind but have less space in your luggage.

However, there are simple tips and techniques on how you can bring a lot of stuff to maximize your luggage space.

Remember, when traveling you have to ask these simple questions to yourself:
  • Where you’ll be going
  • What you’ll be doing on the trip
  • How long you’ll be staying

From these, you’ll know how many clothes and items you’ll have to bring.

KONMARI FOLD
Created by a Japanese consultant, Marie Kondo, the Konmari Style is a type of folding where you can place your clothes vertically. Placing them upright inside your luggage with this type of folding can help you see your clothes and pull them out with ease, instead of pulling them out one by one. You can also fold any type of clothing like jackets, pants, even your socks.

What you need to do:
  1. Fold both sides of the garment across the center.
  2. Fold the shirt in half.
  3. Fold the shirt in thirds.

Now that you know how to fold the Konmari Style, you can fold it any of your clothes like jacket, pants, laundry or even your socks.

ROLLING YOUR PANTS
Rolling your pants save more space than folding it, this might make your pants look like a burrito, but it’s less bulky and more tacked.

What you need to do:
  1. Fold Pants in half.
  2. Lift one pant leg and fold it diagonally.
  3. Roll pants starting from the waist till the end of the pants.
  4. Tuck the rolled pants into the pant leg.

UTILIZING YOUR SHOES
Shoes are bulky, and it takes a lot of room in your luggage. You can utilize your shoes’ opening or mouth and put your socks and other small stuff inside it.

Wrap or store your shoes in a plastic to avoid dirtying your clean clothes.

PACKING CUBES
Keep your hygiene, beauty and gadget essentials in separate cubes, because packing cubes can be a total space saver.  They help maximize space by keeping your clothes and other stuff compressed. The good part about this, packing cubes are shaped like a cube, it is definitely easier to stack many in your luggage.

Keep your liquids into small containers. Invest in small containers less than 100ml, that way, they would fit into your packing cubes.

REMEMBER THESE ADDITIONAL TIPS TO AVOID OVER PACKING:

  1. Plan your outfits by checking the weather condition of the place you’re going to.
  2. Wear your bulkiest items, like a jacket and one of the two pairs of shoes you’re going to bring.
  3. Don’t pack “just in case” items.
  4. Most importantly, DON’T LEAVE YOUR PACKING AT THE LAST MINUTE.

Now you’re all packed up and ready to travel!
