Rakso Travel, a
charterer of Philippine Airlines for the Manila-Okinawa route, plays a role in formalizing
the ties between two Okinawan associations, namely: Foreigners and Nikkeijins
Support Center (FNSC) and Okinawa Foreign Nursing-Care Project (OFNP) and
select private Universities in Manila.
The MOU signing |
These Naha-based organizations aim to build cooperation between Okinawa and the Philippines initially in the field of education and nursing care. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mapua University, University of the East, Jose Rizal
University, the Philippine Women's University and Lyceum of the Philippines
University for their respective internship programs (source).
The campaign will start in May 2018 to address the shortage of labor in several industries as it targets to hire people to work in Okinawa in
the future.
Okinawa Congressman
Mikio Shimoji led the MOU signing that formalized this tie up. The momentous event was held last April 20,
2018 at the Ballroom 1 & 2, Upper Ground Floor, City of Dreams Manila.
With the direct flight between Okinawa and Manila made possible by Rakso Travel, leading people from political and business worlds of Okinawa travelled to Manila for this occasion. The newly-formed ties between Okinawa and Manila is another milestone to look forward to.
