K-Drama Filming Location You Can Visit in South, Korea

“Hallyu Wave” – you have probably heard of this term, whether you are into Korean culture or not. This term was first used in the 1990s. Other people are more familiar with this term as the Korean Wave. This refers to the global success and popularity of South Korea’s culture when more and more people from different countries became interested in Korean Pop Cultures such as K-Drama, Korean Movies, and K-Pop.      


Due to the tremendous popularity gained of Korean Pop Culture in the global market, a lot of travelers from foreign countries take interest in visiting South Korea to see their favorite Hallyu Stars and to visit the filming locations of their beloved dramas and movies. Many places in South Korea have become a 'must-visit' for all K-Drama and K-Pop fans all over the globe.  

1. Nami Island, Chuncheon, South Korea 

One of the most-visited tourist attractions in South Korea is the very beautiful Nami Island, this was popularized by the K-Dramas that sparked the Hallyu Wave which was aired in 2002 – “Winter Sonata”, as the drama’s filming site.  You can find a statue of the characters of actors Bae Yong Joon (Kang Joon Sang) and Choi Ji Woo (Jung Yu Jin). 

2. Petit France, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea  
Another well-known filming location is Petite France. Fans of the drama -   My Love from the Star, will remember this place where the iconic kissing scene of Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) and Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) was filmed. Another drama named 'Secret Garden' aired 2010 – 2011, also film3d here. Korean variety show named 'Running Man' used this location as well for their 40th episode. 
The French-inspired theme park in Gyeonggi province is a small village consists of a guesthouse, museum, café, and restaurant. Petite France is also famous for its colorful houses and its mini Eiffel Tower.

3. Everland Theme Park, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea 
  
Everland Themepark – the largest outdoor theme park in South Korea, was used as a filming site for the drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” where Kim Mi So (Park Min Young) and Lee Young Joon’s (Park Seo Joon) unofficial first date took place. Other dramas filmed here are: Hwayugi: A Korean Odyssey; and The Bride of the Water God.  

The reality show “We Got Married” where the virtual couple BTOB’s Yook Sung Jae and Red Velvet’s Joy had their fairytale themed wedding ceremony. 

4. Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul, South Korea 
Gyeongbokgung Palace is the first and largest royal palace built in the Joseon Dynasty, and many historical dramas have been filmed here like Rooftop Prince; Moon Embracing the Sun; and Goblin.  To make the most out of your visit to the Palace, rent a Hanbok (traditional Korean clothes) and roam around the grounds as if you were part of the royal family.
