Festivals or Fiesta is widely common around the world. In fact, the Philippines have numerous different kinds of Festivals celebrated in different parts of the country. One of them is the recently concluded Aliwan Fiesta.

Aliwan Fiesta first started in 2003, where different cultural festivals around the country gather in Star City Complex in Pasay City. Aliwan means ‘entertainment’ in Filipino, which this fiesta has consistently showcased every year on the month of April.

Aliwan Fiesta attracts tourists from across the country and the globe, seeking the fun activities Aliwan brings, from cultural street dance to big floats that represent each towns own Festival.

On the month of May, Flores de Mayo (Flower of May) is known as the ‘Queen of Philippine Festivals’. Introduced by the Spanish Conquerors, Flores de Mayo is celebrated every day in the entire month of May as a tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, for the beneficial rain she brings that make flowers bloom after the dry season.

The Santacruzan or Sacred cross is observed, where beautiful town belles are selected to participate in the colorful Parade. This Festival is celebrated on different days in any town in the country.
