Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul

Finally, the Embassy of Korea in the Philippines announced yesterday, May 29, 2018, that starting July 1, selected travel agencies can process temporary visitor's visa application. This is due to the increased number of Korean visa applicants. As mentioned in the announcement, the applicants rose from 90,000 in 2015, 120,000 in 2016 to around 160,000 by the end of 2017 (source).

In addition, as stated by the embassy "This increase in number of visa applicants caused the applicants to stand in hot weather outside the embassy for hours to wait in line for their turn to apply for their visas. To avoid such inconvenience, the embassy has designated 35 travel agencies to process temporary visitor’s visa applications."

Starting July 1, walk-in applicants of temporary visas will no longer be accepted at the embassy. Accommodations or exception can be made for; spouses & children of Koreans, holders of visa issuance numbers, government employees with official business trip, and those with urgent humanitarian reasons to travel to Korea.
